Wrath of the Lich King’s default UI has not changed much since 2010, which means the client still ships without a quest map, a damage meter, or most of the quality-of-life tools players now expect. Whether you are playing on Warmane, Project Epoch, or one of Ascension’s realms, the client is the same 3.3.5a build, so the same 3.3.5 addons work across nearly every WotLK 3.3.5 private server. Here is where to start.

Quest tracking: Questie and pfQuest

Questie adds quest markers directly to your map and minimap, turning WotLK’s text-only quest log into something closer to what retail WoW has offered for years. pfQuest does the same job with a different interface and has server-specific extensions, including one built for Project Epoch’s custom questlines. Either one is worth installing before you start leveling, since finding quest objectives without one means alt-tabbing to a wiki every few minutes.

Combat and raiding: Details!, DBM, and AtlasLoot

Details! Damage Meter tracks damage and healing done across a fight, which most raid and dungeon groups expect from every member by the time you hit endgame content. Deadly Boss Mods, usually shortened to DBM, calls out boss abilities before they happen, giving you a warning window that the base UI does not provide at all. AtlasLoot rounds this out by showing every boss’s full loot table from your character screen, so you can check whether a dungeon or raid actually drops something worth doing before you queue.

UI and quality of life: Bartender 4, OmniCC, and LeatrixPlus

Bartender 4 replaces WotLK’s default action bars with fully customizable ones, letting you resize, reposition, and add extra bars for classes with large ability lists. OmniCC adds cooldown countdown text to every icon with a cooldown, which the base client leaves out entirely. LeatrixPlus bundles a long list of smaller fixes into one addon, including auto-repair, auto-sell of gray items, and a faster loot window, saving you from installing five separate addons for five small conveniences.

Bags, mail, and the auction house

Bagnon merges all of your bags into a single searchable window instead of four or five separate ones, and does the same for your bank. Postal speeds up mail, letting you open every attachment in your mailbox with one click instead of clicking through each item individually. Auctionator strips out the default auction house UI’s slow search and replaces it with instant results, price history, and one-click posting, which matters a lot once you are managing gold across multiple characters.

Gathering and world content: GatherMate2 and Mapster

GatherMate2 tracks herb and mining node locations as you gather, then displays them on your map on future visits, useful for planning efficient farming routes. Mapster is a smaller addon that expands the default world map and adds a handful of navigation improvements, a common pairing with GatherMate2 or Questie.

Installing all of this without the manual work
