WhisperMessenger Backport

A messenger-style home for your whispers on the original World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King 3.3.5a client (build 12340).

Keep separate conversations, readable chat bubbles, and saved history in one window. This backport brings F0rty_tw0's WhisperMessenger to the original Wrath client, including Frostmourne/Rebuffed.

Features

Compatibility

Built for original WoW 3.3.5a, build 12340, interface 30300. This download is not a Wrath Classic 3.4.x or Retail package; use the original project for other supported clients.

Battle.net whispers, communities, and cross-game chat are unavailable on this client. Notification sounds follow your game audio settings. Class portraits use square artwork supported by the original engine.

The combat option affects only automatic opening of the main messenger window. Messages still arrive and are saved, manual opening remains available, and small message-preview popups keep their own existing behavior.

Install and open

1. Exit WoW and extract the ZIP.
2. Place the WhisperMessenger folder inside Interface\AddOns.
3. Check that the file is at Interface\AddOns\WhisperMessenger\WhisperMessenger.toc, without an extra nested folder.
4. Start the game, enable the addon, and type /wmsg.

Keep the folder name exactly WhisperMessenger. For an update, replace the addon files and run /reload; your saved chat history and settings remain. Avoid installing a second copy under another folder name.

To enable automatic opening, go to Options > Behavior > Auto-open on incoming whisper. Leave Only auto-open outside combat on to prevent incoming whispers from opening the main window during combat.
