About TokenCouncil
TokenCouncil is a loot addon for World of Warcraft raids (WoW Forever, Retail and Classic) that combines three fair systems into one: tokens show how much a player really wants an item, rolls keep luck in the game, and a loot council makes the final call with the whole raid's needs in mind (but is not required). The Master Looter runs it all from one panel; every raider gets a simple popup when loot drops.
It was built for raids where nobody knows what will drop or who needs what, new content, fresh realms, beta clients, and progress raids where loot tables aren't datamined yet.
What makes it unique
- No loot table needed. Every piece of equipment that drops goes up by itself. There's nothing to set up per boss or per item, and no wishlist to maintain.
- Tokens are a real choice. Each raider gets the same number of tokens at the start of the raid. Putting one on an item costs something, so people only bid on what truly matters to them.
- More tokens, better odds — not a guarantee. Every token is one automatic 1–100 roll. Three tokens means three rolls and your best one counts. Wanting something badly helps, but never buys it outright.
- Final means final. Tokens on an item are spent when its timer ends — by everyone who bid, not just the winner. No last-second take-backs, no gaming the system.
- The council keeps it sensible. When several players bid, the loot council sees each player's rolls, note and equipped items, and votes. Most votes wins; a tie goes to the best roll. Votes are anonymous to the raid.
- Nobody walks away empty-handed for nothing. If nobody bids, the Master Looter can start a free roll that costs no tokens at all.
- Feels like part of the game. The windows use the classic WoW look: gold-trimmed frames, red buttons and the game's own sounds.
- Built to survive a real raid. It checks the raid every second, sends the session again to anyone who missed it, warns about players on another version, and recovers from a Master Looter disconnect or crash without double-charging anyone.
Why it works so well with unknown loot tables
Most loot systems need you to know the loot in advance: priority lists, wishlists, BiS sheets. That breaks down on a new realm, a beta, or a fresh tier where nobody has the data yet.
TokenCouncil doesn't ask what could drop — it reacts to what does drop:
- The item appears, the raid decides right then. Every raider sees it with its item level and slot, compares it to what they wear, and chooses on the spot.
- Tokens replace the wishlist. Instead of planning weeks ahead, a player shows how much they want this specific item by how many tokens they put on it.
- The council fills the knowledge gap. When it's close, the council sees who used tokens, their rolls, their notes ("big upgrade", "offspec") and their equipped gear — the information a priority list would normally provide.
- Scarcity does the balancing. Because everyone has the same limited tokens for the raid, players who win early have fewer left later. Loot spreads naturally without anyone tracking it by hand.
Why your raid should use it
- Fair and transparent. Everyone starts equal, every roll is announced in raid chat, and every handout is logged.
- Fast. One popup per drop, a timer, and it's done — no long whisper lists or "type 1 if you need".
- Less drama. The rules are clear before the raid starts, tokens can't be taken back, and the council's votes are anonymous.
- Fits any group. Use it with a council for a guild raid, or let rolls decide when only one person bids.
- Easy for raiders. Raiders don't need to configure anything: install it, join the raid, and the popup does the rest.
Guide
For everyone
- Install TokenCouncil (everyone in the raid needs the same version).
- Click the gold coin at your minimap, or type /tkc, to open the Loot Board or My Loot.
- When equipment drops, My Loot pops up. For each item choose:
- Use token — pick 1, 2, 3 or all your tokens and confirm. Each token is one roll.
- Pass — you don't want it.
- When the timer ends, everyone's tokens on that item are spent and the rolls are made automatically. Add a short note ("BiS", "offspec") to help the council.
- My Loot shows if you're connected to the Master Looter's session and how many tokens you have left.
For the Master Looter (raid leader)
- Open the ML Panel (minimap coin or /tkc ml).
- Enter Tokens each and press Start session. Choose:
- Reset & start clean — everyone starts with the same tokens, history and log wiped.
- Start with ledger — continue a raid over several nights with saved tokens.
- In the Council tab tick your loot council members.
- Kill bosses — drops go up by themselves. You can also shift-click an item into the panel and press Put up.
- When a timer ends:
- one bidder → Hand to them,
- several bidders → the potential council votes, then Hand to the leader,
- no bidders → Start free roll.
- The Tokens tab shows everyone's tokens and a light per player: green connected, orange not yet, red other version, dark red no addon. Use /tkc check any time.
- End session when the raid is over.
For loot council members
- When several players bid, Council Vote opens.
- Compare rolls, notes and equipped items, then click Vote. You can switch your vote until the item is handed out.
