Having issues?
Heroic Strike does not go off when you press it. It waits for your next swing and replaces it, and the only sign that it is waiting is a highlight on the action button, which is not where you are looking while you watch the swing timer.
SwingQueue colours the swing timer itself. Orange means your next swing is a Heroic Strike; blue means Cleave. When the swing lands, the bar goes back to normal.
What it does
- Heroic Strike turns the main-hand bar orange, and Cleave turns it blue, from the moment you queue it until the swing spends it or you cancel it.
- Maul, for druids, and Raptor Strike, for hunters, turn it orange.
- Every rank counts. An action button set up before you trained a higher rank can still hold the old one, and the game reports only the exact rank that was queued, so every rank is checked.
- Only the colour changes. The bar is Blizzard's. SwingQueue never moves or resizes it, so its position, its size and when it shows all stay with Edit Mode. The off-hand and ranged bars are left alone.
The game does not always announce the moment a queued swing lands, so while the bar is coloured SwingQueue checks ten times a second until it can clear it. The rest of the time it waits for the game's own events and does no timed checking.
Other classes get /swingqueue test and nothing else.
Turning on the swing timer
SwingQueue colours the bar the game already has; it does not draw one of its own. If you do not see a swing timer while you fight, switch it on:
- Open the Game Menu and go to Options > Advanced Options.
- Under Swing Timer, tick Enable Swing Timer.
That is the path the game itself gives. If you are already in Edit Mode, there is a shortcut: tick Advanced Options in the Edit Mode window if it is not ticked already, and Swing Timer appears under Combat. It is greyed out while the timer is off, and Shift-clicking it switches the timer on.
To move or resize the bar, or to choose when it shows (Always Visible, In Combat or Hidden), open Edit Mode, tick Swing Timer (under Combat, once Advanced Options is ticked) so the bars appear, and click the main-hand bar.
Commands
/swingqueue test— preview the colours on the main-hand bar. Each use steps to the next one: orange, blue, then back to normal. Works on any class. The colour is on the bar's fill, which is empty between swings, so try it while you are auto-attacking something.
What has been tried
Heroic Strike has been seen turning the bar orange in combat on the Forever beta, and the guild member it was written for reports it working.
Cleave, Maul and Raptor Strike have not been seen in game yet. They are checked exactly the way Heroic Strike is, but checked the same way is not the same as seen working. If one of them leaves the bar its normal colour, a report saying which one is the most useful thing you can send.
Requirements
None. No libraries, no settings and nothing saved; the colours are fixed. It does need Blizzard's swing timer to be on, as above.
Version support
WoW: Forever only. The swing timer it colours is part of Forever's own interface, and Blizzard loads it for Forever and nothing else, so on retail or Classic there is no bar to colour.
Credit
Made for Saga, a guild member who asked for the default swing timer to change colour with Heroic Strike or Cleave queued.
