You picked German, or French, or Spanish, on purpose. Then comes the sentence that stops you cold — and the only way out is alt-tabbing to a translator, which breaks the very thing you set the language for.

This puts the English right there instead. The quest you have open appears in English in its own window, next to the original. Hover a spell or an NPC and the English name and description are on the tooltip you are already looking at. You never leave the game.

English quest text next to the original

What it covers

  • Quest text in English — the offer, the objective, what the NPC says while it's in progress and when you hand it in
  • English spell names and what they do
  • English NPC names
  • English item names, as a separate download: English Item Names

Install it, play in another language, read the English when you need it. There is nothing to configure. Playing in English already? It stays quiet.

Works better with QuestWordHunter

On its own it just shows you the English. With QuestWordHunter installed, the quest text becomes clickable so you can save the words you want to learn, and this panel docks beside it instead of floating.

Classic Era and Season of Discovery

There is a Classic download, and it carries less than the Retail one — not a bug, just what exists. You get the English title and objective for Classic quests. There is no opening text, and no spell or NPC tooltips, because none of that is published for Classic; where the panel has nothing it says so rather than showing you the wrong passage. Item tooltips work on both games.

Good to know

A spell's English description uses Blizzard's stock values, so a damage number may not match what your character rolls. What the ability does — and anything that doesn't scale — is exact.

Licence and credits

Released under the GNU General Public License v3. Retail text comes from Blizzard's Game Data API; the quest passages it doesn't publish come from the MultiLanguage addon by Ruben Zantingh, used with his permission; the Classic quest data is derived from Questie, also GPL v3. Full attribution is in the NOTICE file inside the download.
