PathForever - Leveling Journey, Dungeon Journal and QoL

Your leveling companion for World of Warcraft: Forever. See where your character stands and what's next: the skills waiting at your trainer, your class quests in the order the game gives them, the zones and dungeons worth your time, and every quest, boss and drop in Forever's dungeons. Plus PathForever modules that make the rest of the game smoother, starting with PathForever Fishing.

Type /pf or click the minimap button to open it.

Journey

Your character at a glance, with three cards along the bottom. Click one for its panel.

  • Skills: every class skill from 1 to 60 with its level and cost. See what you can train right now and what it all costs, what's coming at your next levels, and what you've already learned. Prices you see at your class trainer are remembered, discounts included, and a "!" reminds you when skills have been waiting a while. A PathForever button beside your spellbook opens it too.
  • Class quests: your class's own quests, from your first stance or pet to the big weapon chains.
    • A chain is one row, named after the quest you're on ("Step 2 of 4"), with where to pick it up or hand it in.
    • Its panel lists every step of the chain, follow-ups included, each marked done, in progress or still to come. Click any step to see where it starts, what it rewards and how much XP it gives, so you can plan the Whirlwind axe from your first step.
    • A quest that needs another one first says so ("After Brutal Armor") instead of claiming it's available.
    • Where a quest comes in a version for each home city, the versions share one row ("Speak with Dillinger or Veteran Uzzek", picked up in either place) until you choose one.
    • Mark on map for any quest with a known start.
  • Zones: the zones for your level, colored by difficulty, with a rough count of the quests left in each.

Above them, three small cards open a window beside PathForever, so your character stays in view:

  • Gold: what you have, on this character and all of them together. What this session and this level earned and spent, the total this character has earned, gold an hour, and where it came from and went: loot, quest rewards, merchants, repairs, training, flights, the auction house, mail and trades. Plus what your trainer will cost you over the next few levels, and whether you can afford it.
  • XP: your progress and rested XP, XP an hour, time to the next level, and how many kills or quests that is at your pace. Your recent levels' times, and roughly how long to the level cap.
  • Discover: what to do next (skills to train, class quests, dungeons with quests left at your level, professions to catch up on), the dungeons opening in your next few levels, and a tip.

A session lasts through reloads and loading screens, and only starts over once you've been logged out for more than half an hour.

Level-up summary. Every level-up tells you how the last level went: how long it took, gold earned, quests, kills and XP an hour, plus the skills waiting at your trainer, any dungeon that just opened up, and whether your professions are keeping pace.

Dungeon journal

  • Every dungeon, sorted by what's worth doing at your level. Dungeons you've outleveled or can't enter yet move to the bottom.
  • "New quests available" marks dungeons where your level has just unlocked quests.
  • Only the quests your character can take: your faction, your class and your race.
  • Every dungeon quest with the game's own quest icons: available, in your quest log, ready to turn in, or done. Each one tells you where to pick it up, where its chain starts, or where to hand it in.
  • Click a quest for its details: level, XP, rewards, start and end NPCs, a map pin for where it starts, and every step of its chain, inside the dungeon or not. You can also copy its Wowhead link.
  • Every boss with a portrait and its loot, including the items Forever added. Shift-click an item to link it in chat, Ctrl-click to try it on.
  • Completed quests are tucked away until you want to see them.
  • Forever's new dungeons as they open: Excavation Site with its quests for both factions and every boss's loot, and City of Dalaran with its bosses and quests (its loot as it's discovered).

PathForever Fishing

A fishing companion that opens when you equip a fishing pole (or with /pf fishing).

  • Your Fishing skill, with your lure's time left: green, then orange and red as it runs out, or "No bait".
  • Your latest catches in the zone you're in, with how many you've caught there and this session. "Show all catches" lists everything you've ever caught in that zone.
  • Tackle box: your best lures with how many you have. Click one to put it on your pole.
  • Catch pop-ups: each catch floats up from your cursor, fish with a weight. Now and then you'll land a trophy.
  • Largest caught on every fish's tooltip, and a History of your last 100 catches with zone and weight.
  • Announce to party: tick it and your party hears about every catch, with its weight.
  • Optional: double-click to cast, and hide the interface while fishing for a quieter view (it comes back when you put the pole away, enter combat, or click "Show UI").

Professions

  • Each profession against where it should be for your level: green when on track, orange when a little behind, red when far behind.
  • Click a profession for its details: skill gained this level and this session, and the next rank with what it needs. For First Aid, Fishing and Cooking it tells you which book or quest you need and who sells or gives it for your faction, with the price and a map pin.
    • Mining and Herbalism: the best nodes for your skill and the next one you'll unlock, with the zones that have the most of them.
    • Skinning: the highest level of beast you can skin, and where to find them.
    • Fishing: the zones you've caught the most in.
  • Your other characters are listed too. Click one to see where you left it and how long ago, its gold, how far through its level it is and roughly how much rested XP it has built up since, its professions, what's waiting for it at the trainer and in class quests, and all your characters' gold together. Log in to each character once to record it.

Options

  • Track your other characters, or don't.
  • Hide the minimap button (the window still opens with /pf).
  • Turn the level-up summary on or off.
  • Choose whether PathForever Fishing opens when you equip a fishing pole. Its own settings are under "Options" in its window.

Coming soon

  • Forever's new dungeons. City of Dalaran's loot, The Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace, with their quests, bosses and loot as they're discovered.
  • More for the higher dungeons. Missing bosses and loot (Dire Maul especially) and the remaining boss portraits.
  • More PathForever modules: quality-of-life helpers in the same spirit as PathForever Fishing.

Notes

  • Made for WoW: Forever. Its dungeons, quests and loot are Forever's, so it isn't useful on retail or Classic Era.
  • The skill, quest and loot data comes from Wowhead's Forever database and is checked by hand, class quests against Wowhead's class quest guides and in-game testing. Forever is still in beta and still changing, so if something doesn't match your game, please tell me.
  • PathForever does nothing in combat that could get in the way of your UI, and it never uses Blizzard's popups.

Reporting a problem

Leave a comment with what you were doing, your race, class and level, whether you were in combat, and the output of /pf version. If the game said "Interface action failed because of an AddOn", also include /pf taint.
