**Summary**

oAlias P2P is an opt-in nameplate addon for WoW Forever (Interface 16001). You choose any alias, up to 36 bytes, and other players running the addon see it above your character instead of your Blizzard name. There is no account, server, or desktop companion. Aliases are stored on your computer and exchanged directly through WoW addon messages, so two players can use the same name.

**Description**

oAlias P2P lets each player pick a social name that other oAlias users see in the world. Your Blizzard character name is not changed on the server. Hold Alt to show it again. Turning the addon off restores the normal name and tells nearby users to drop your alias.

The download is one folder, `oAliasP2P`. Copy it into `InterfaceAddOns`, enable **oAlias P2P** at the character screen, and type `/reload`. Open the window from the note icon under the minimap, or with `/oaliasp2p`.

**Choosing a name**

Type a name and click **Use alias**, or run `/oaliasp2p set The Chudlord`. It applies immediately. Names are not checked for uniqueness and are not reserved. `Auctioneer-Sneekis` and `Someguy-Realm` can both display as `The Chudlord`. Each alias is remembered by the full character identity, not by the alias text, so those two players stay separate.

**How other players see it**

When a friendly nameplate appears, your addon whispers that character a short addon message asking for their alias. If they have oAlias enabled, their addon replies with their character identity, chosen name, and a revision. Your client accepts the reply only when WoW reports that the sender is that same character. Party, raid, instance, and guild addon channels are also used, so grouped players do not have to wait for a nameplate.

A rename is sent to people you have recently talked to, even if you do not move. `/oaliasp2p sync` asks everyone currently nearby again. If a message is lost, the addon asks again, waiting longer between tries. An alias that is not refreshed disappears after 15 minutes. Disabling oAlias sends a withdrawal so other clients remove it sooner.

**What you see in the world**

Learned aliases replace the other player's name on their nameplate. Your own alias is drawn above your character, and the top-left player frame uses it too. The extra personal health and energy bars in the middle of the screen are turned off while the addon is enabled. Friendly nameplates stay available.

The **Other players** slider moves other aliases. Your own alias has separate horizontal and vertical sliders. The default height for your alias is 40. Alias size, Blizzard-name size, and guild-line size are separate controls.

Color modes:

* **Smart: class + PvP** is the default. Friendlies use class colors, so a Paladin is pink. Hostile players who are PvP-flagged are red. Hostile players who are not flagged are orange. Neutral or unknown units use the neutral color.
* **Class colors** always uses class color.
* **Relationship / PvP** uses the friendly, enemy, and neutral colors you pick.
* **Custom color** uses one color for every alias.

You can edit the friendly fallback, both enemy colors, the neutral color, the custom alias color, and the guild-line color with WoW's color picker. If the client does not expose a class, friendlies use your friendly fallback color instead of a default purple.

**Show guild rank/title** changes `<Guild Name>` into `<Guild Name — Guild Master>`. The rank comes from the unit when the game provides it. For members of your own guild, oAlias can also read your guild roster.

**Style Blizzard names too** is off by default. Turn it on to apply your color, size, and height settings to nearby players who do not have a learned alias. That does not invent an alias for them. Learned aliases still win.

**Commands**

* `/oaliasp2p` opens the window. `/oalias` and `/alias` do the same thing.
* `/oaliasp2p set <name>` sets your alias.
* `/oaliasp2p on` and `/oaliasp2p off` enable or disable it.
* `/oaliasp2p sync` asks nearby players for their aliases.
* `/oaliasp2p reset` restores the recommended sizes and positions.
* `/oaliasp2p peers` prints who you have cached and whether messages are being sent.
* `/oaliasp2p debug` prints the nameplate and color details for visible players.

**Limits**

Only people running oAlias can see aliases. Everyone else still sees normal Blizzard names. Hostile or cross-faction players may never receive the whisper if WoW blocks addon messages between you. Class, PvP status, faction, and guild rank are not sent in the alias message. Your client reads those from the player in front of you. A modified addon can still announce a false alias. This version does not cryptographically prove that a name was registered anywhere.
