Night Watch Torch Helper: Forever

Keep Night Watchman's Torch handy on dark nights and in bad weather in WoW Forever. A small torch button appears when the conditions are right. Click it once to light the torch, or assign a key in WoW's Keybindings menu.

The add-on appears as Night Watch Torch in the game's AddOns list.

The button is offered only when:

• The torch is in your carried bags.
• Its buff is missing and the item is ready to use.
• You are alive, out of combat and standing still.
• You are not mounted, on a flight path or otherwise traveling.
• The game reports nighttime or active bad weather.

Running, walking and even sitting still on a mount prevent the prompt. The checks run again when you click, so a last-moment change in movement, buffs or inventory can prevent the action. The add-on also waits while you cast or channel.

Move and resize

Left-click the minimap torch icon for settings. Right-click it to move or lock the torch button; drag the minimap icon to change its position.

Type /nwt unlock to arrange the button, /nwt size 64 to resize it, and /nwt lock when finished. Shift-drag also moves a visible button.

For help, type /nwt. Use /nwt status to see why a prompt is waiting.

Darkness and fog

Nighttime and weather use WoW Forever's own APIs. Rain, snow, sandstorms and other reported non-clear weather are supported. Visual fog, caves and shade may not be reported by the game. /nwt dim on temporarily marks your current area as dim; the setting clears on zone changes or reload, or with /nwt dim off.

A click or keypress is required. WoW does not permit this add-on to use the item automatically. The add-on never cancels an existing torch buff.

Compatibility

Targets WoW Forever 1.60.1, interface 16001. No external add-ons required. Version 1.0.2 improves active-buff detection and passed 138 automated Lua 5.1 checks. The reported reminder reappearance was also confirmed fixed in the game.
