NiceDamageRedux
Give your damage a fresh coat of paint. NiceDamageRedux swaps the default floating combat text font for a custom one, so your damage and healing numbers pop!
Lightweight, no config, no dependencies. Install it and go.
Features
- Replaces the font on floating combat text, the damage and healing numbers that fly off units.
- Covers normal hits, crits, heals, and crit heals. All of it uses your custom font.
- Optionally bring your own font. Use the plugin's inbuilt font or drop in any TrueType (.ttf) file and you are set.
Installation
- Download the latest release.
- Extract the
NiceDamageReduxfolder into your AddOns directory:World of Warcraft<version>InterfaceAddOns - Make sure the folder is named exactly
NiceDamageRedux. - Restart WOW, or log out to character select and back in.
That is it. Your damage numbers will be in the new font.
Using your own font
The font is the file named font.ttf inside the addon folder.
To change it, replace font.ttf with any .ttf font of your choice, keep the file name font.ttf, and restart the game. Done.
Tip: Fonts with only standard Latin characters work best for damage numbers. If a font is missing characters, numbers still display fine.
Compatibility
Currently built for World of Warcraft: Forever (1.60.1). If a future patch flags it as out of date, tick "Load out of date AddOns" on the character select screen, or update the ## Interface: line in the .toc.
Known limitation
On WOW Forever and other Vanilla flavours, the self scrolling combat text, meaning the numbers that scroll next to your own character, is drawn by the game itself and cannot be restyled by addons, so it stays the default font. This is a WOW limitation on these versions, not a bug. The floating numbers over units, which are the main event, are fully covered.
