Having issues?
Formerly Aether UI Forever. The Aether family is now the Nether family: NetherUI, NetherBars, NetherChat, NetherSuite, NetherSearch and the NetherUI PRISM Theme Pack. Same addons, same author, same colours and features, new name. Your settings come with you: on your first login after updating, NetherUI brings over everything you had set, once, by itself. A full game restart is needed after this update (new folder names). New commands: /nui and /nether (/aui and /aether keep working).
NETHERUI
A complete interface for World of Warcraft: Forever. Dark, modern, fully yours.
NetherUI replaces the stock interface with one cohesive design: unit frames, nameplates, action bars, minimap, chat, tooltips, bags, the quest tracker and every Blizzard window, all drawn in the same art, the same fonts and the colours you choose. Everything is a toggle, a slider or a drag in Edit Mode, and everything runs on the game's own animations with no polling, so it stays light in combat.
17 THEMES, ONE CLICK EACH
Dark themes
- IBWIP (default): smoked obsidian, sacred gold and white-hot Light leaking through every fracture, with an original art set and the Broken Halo portrait crest
- Obsidian: near-black glass, antique-gold filigree, arcane-cyan gems
- Midnight Void: deep indigo and void violet
- Silvermoon: blood-elf crimson and gold
- Frostforged: steel and glacial blue
- Emberforge: forge iron and ember orange
- Verdant Dream: deep forest greens
- Stormwind: Alliance blue and gold
- Orgrimmar: Horde red and iron
- Ashen: slate and bone
- Nightfall OLED: pure black for OLED screens
- High Contrast: maximum legibility
- Classic Obsidian: the first-generation Nether art, one click away
Light theme
- Sunwell Dawn: bright marble, warm gold and sunlit sky
Animated themes
- Spectrum RGB: black glass with a living edge that runs the full colour wheel around every window and slowly rotates; accents, dividers and gems can cycle with it
- Spectrum Static: the same colour wheel around every window, held still
- Matrix Terminal: green code rain behind every panel, with strength and speed sliders
- Every colour role can be overridden, accents can follow your class colour, and theme switches animate
- Crest art option: keep each theme's own portrait crest, or force the Broken Halo, the classic Nether chevron or PRISM's chevrons on any theme
- Skin packs: artists can ship whole new looks as plugins (the PRISM Theme Pack adds eight)
THE LIGHT: A LIVING MOTION LAYER
- Breathing seams on panel edges, pulsing window edges, splashes of Light landing on the edges, ember motes drifting from the seams, backlit titles and names, ring light on every portrait, a sweep of Light on hover, an ember pulse on alerts
- Four quality levels (Off, Calm, Balanced, Full), a switch for every effect, and live intensity and speed sliders that re-tune everything already on screen
- On by default for the default theme, off for the others, and yours to turn on for any theme you like
UNIT FRAMES THAT SHOW WHAT YOU NEED
- Player, target, focus, target of target, pet and party frames, each resizable live, each movable in Edit Mode
- Three portrait shapes (round, octagon, square) with matching frames and crests; portraits optional
- Health colour by class, by theme gradient or by a red-to-green curve; "current / max" or current and percentage, in white that reads on any bar
- Drop shadows behind the health and resource values with separate intensity sliders, separate font size sliders for each, and opacity sliders for the health and resource bar fills
- Names inside the bar or above it (full character names with surname), with their own drop shadow and intensity
- Resource numbers, resource bar height, combo points, totem bar with timers, cast bars with interrupt shield and spark
- Aura containers for buffs, debuffs, weapon enchants and private auras, every one movable
NAMEPLATES
- Nether's own nameplate design, or the same design installed into Platynator
- Friendly health bars, target chevrons, target glow, mouseover highlight, class-coloured players, Nether font, all switchable
TRACKING AND INFORMATION
- Cooldown bar: every class ability you know with a cooldown, for any class, read from your spellbook. Icons darken and count down; horizontal or vertical; icon size, per row, spacing, numbers and background panel are all adjustable; it flashes when something is ready
- Boxed quest tracker in your theme's art
- Damage meter skin
- Session stats box and a Lockouts window
- Update notifications: copies of the addon in your guild and group quietly compare versions, so you hear about a new release without the addon ever going online
EVERYTHING ELSE, IN YOUR THEME
- Action bars with a replaced proc glow and the Cooldown Manager
- Minimap (square or round) with a themed minimap button
- Chat with a fading background, tooltips, XP and reputation bars, the micro menu and bag slots
- Every Blizzard window: character, spellbook, talents, bags, bank, mail, merchant, map, quest log, dungeon finder, settings and more, with ornate frames, window opacity and background opacity controls
- Window portraits with Nether rings, a monochrome micro menu option, Bagnon borders
BUILT-IN ARTWORK FOR OTHER ADDONS
- PetXPForever: pet XP bar, loyalty bar, level badge, training points and a pet portrait, plus a happiness face at the end of the pet's health bar in your portrait shape and colours, movable in Edit Mode
- Touch Grass, Hero!, ForeverRecruiter and AutoLayer drawn in your theme
- A one-time prompt asks before taking over any addon's look; change your mind any time under Settings > Addons
QUALITY OF LIFE
- Edit Mode movers for every frame, with right-click reset
- Profiles: save, load and share whole layouts across characters
- Settings window that scrolls, resizes and remembers its place; every control applies live, no reload
- Slash commands for everything: /aui, /aui theme, /aui edit, /aui profile, /aui diag and more
- Built for the Midnight 12.x API that Forever runs on: secret values are handled, nothing taints, nothing errors in combat
- Tested in ten configurations before every release

Bring your Edit Mode layout with you:
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
The first time you log in after installing NetherUI, a popup offers to copy your current Edit Mode layout onto Nether's frames before Nether sets anything up. Your player, target, focus, pet and target-of-target frames and your buffs go exactly where you had Blizzard's, 1:1: the same anchor corner on the same grid spot, at the same Frame Size, and your buffs keep their Icon Size, Padding and icons per row. Choose "Use Nether's layout" to start from Nether's own placement instead.

WHAT'S NEW? (1.2.38)
ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ
- True Classic is now Classic Vanilla, and it goes all the way: the Character, Spellbook, Quest Log, Professions and Talents windows are the vanilla ones again. Two-column stats with drop-downs and resistances beside your character, named tabs along the bottom, the two-column spellbook with a Rank Filter, the split quest log on parchment with coin icons, the recipe list with a Have Materials filter and a tab for each of your professions, and the vanilla talent trees one at a time with their branches, arrows and painted backgrounds.
- Each window opens with its usual key or button, with no flash of the game's window, and falls back to the game's own if a feature it needs is missing. Turn them all off under Settings > Windows & HUD, or one at a time with /aui cw.
- Also: trade window names fixed, windows no longer jump while you drag them, greyed buttons look greyed, minimap buttons sit on the classic ring, and tooltips on the classic themes get their proper left padding.
- New files in this update: restart the game once after installing, a /reload is not enough.

π What's New in v1.1.9
ββββββββββββββββββββ
NetherChat support
- Works hand in hand with NetherChat, the new companion chat addon
- Nether draws the chat background and border in your theme's art, while NetherChat styles the chat text with class-coloured names, readable chat colours and your choice of font
- NetherChat's Messenger, copy, link and settings windows are dressed in Nether art for every Nether and PRISM theme, updating live when you change theme
- Asked once on first load, and switched any time in Settings > Addons, which also has buttons to open NetherChat's settings and its Messenger
Bag drawer
- New Use bag drawer toggle on the General tab (off by default)
- Shows only the backpack button, with the rest of the bag bar tucked away behind it
- Right-click the backpack to pull out the full bag bar, right-click again to tuck it away; left-click opens your bags as always
- Remembers whether the drawer was open or closed
Classic dragon crests
- Two new crest art options for elite, rare and boss portraits
- Classic: Blizzard's original elite and rare dragon frame, unchanged
- Dragon: the same dragon frame recoloured live in your theme's colours, following every Nether and PRISM theme
- Fits round, octagon and square portraits, and is mirrored for portraits on the left of their frame, just like the original elite player frame
- The dragon artwork belongs to Blizzard Entertainment and is read from the game client; it is not part of NetherUI's original artwork and is not covered by its licence
The Nether chevron returns
- The original Nether chevron is back as its own crest art option, separate from the Broken Halo
- The Classic Obsidian theme has its original chevron again
Fixes and polish
- Frames moved in Edit Mode, such as the cooldown bar and the pet happiness indicator, now stay exactly where you drop them
- Fixed an error when switching themes while NetherChat's windows were skinned
- New /aui crestprobe and /aui bagprobe commands to help diagnose display issues

FOR DEVELOPERS AND ARTISTS
- A documented skinning kit: swap any texture, add themes, bar textures, code rain or Spectrum edges from a plugin
- SKINNING.md, a full texture list and a working example plugin ship with the addon
- Any addon can register for Nether artwork through the integrations API
Type /aui to begin. Pick a theme, drag your frames where you want them, and make it yours.
