4EVR Target Quest Icon
4EVR Target Quest Icon is a lightweight World of Warcraft Classic addon built specifically for the Forever / Anniversary / Beta client branch. It automatically detects if your current target is an active quest objective and displays a clear quest indicator icon directly on the Target Frame—no physical mouse hover required.
Why this is essential in Classic
In WoW Classic / Vanilla / Forever, quest mobs do not have modern world outlines or nameplate badges by default. While Blizzard's engine tracks quest objectives in unit tooltips, you normally have to physically move your mouse cursor over each mob to see if you need it.
4EVR Target Quest Icon queries the underlying tooltip API programmatically on target change (PLAYER_TARGET_CHANGED), immediately identifying quest mobs and placing an icon and progress badge right next to the target portrait.
Key Features
- No Mouse Hover Required: Evaluates your target the instant you select it.
- Smart Objective Tracking: Only appears for unfinished objectives (e.g.
4/6). Once you complete your quota (6/6), the icon automatically hides so you don't waste time on mobs you no longer need. - Dynamic Icons: Automatically switches between a sword (
slay) icon for kill quests and a bag (loot) icon for collection/item drop quests. - Interactive Tooltip: Hovering over the icon on your target frame displays the quest title and objective text.
- Progress Counter: Displays a crisp numeric badge (e.g.
4/6) right below the icon. - Modern UI & Frame Addon Friendly: Parented and layered with high frame strata so it never gets clipped by modern Dragonflight/Camelot container frames and renders cleanly over EasyFrames and standard unit frames.
