FinkBar is an AutoBar-style consumable bar and a class-aware macro builder for WoW Forever (Interface 16001). The base game makes you drag one specific item or spell onto an action bar and replace it every time you pick up a better rank. FinkBar keeps one button per kind of item, updates that button from your bags, and writes character macros from spells you actually know.
Consumable bar
After login, FinkBar scans your bags and groups matching items into categories. Each enabled category that has something in your bags appears as one button on a movable bar. Left-click uses the current item. The button shows the item icon and stack count, so you can see at a glance that you have 12 Major Healing Potions left without opening your bags.
Categories
- Food and drink (including mana drinks, kept separate from food)
- Healing potions, mana potions, bandages, and healthstones
- Scrolls, elixirs, buff potions, flasks, and well-fed buff food
- Rogue poisons, sharpening stones, weightstones, weapon oils, and armor kits
- Explosives, anti-venom, pet food, fishing lures, engineering gadgets, and skeleton keys
- Hearthstone, mounts, and quest items
- A catch-all “Other Consumable” category (off by default)
How a button chooses an item
Each category starts in Auto mode. FinkBar picks the best item currently in your bags: higher quality first, then higher item level, then larger stack. When you loot a better potion or eat through a stack, the button switches on its own the next time your bags update. You do not have to drag a new icon onto your bar.
Right-click a button, or click the small arrow on it, to open a picker. The list shows every matching item in your bags, with icon, name, quality color, and count. Choose one to pin that category to that item (Manual mode). Choose “Auto (Best)” to go back to automatic selection. If a pinned item leaves your bags, the button falls back to the best remaining item until the pinned one returns.
Hovering a button shows the item tooltip, the category name, whether the button is Auto or Manual, and the click hints.
What this feels like in play
- In a dungeon you keep one healing-potion button. It stays on Major Healing Potion while you have them, then drops to Superior when those run out.
- Before a pull you right-click the food button and pick a stamina buff food instead of whatever plain food Auto would have chosen.
- Rogues get a poison button; warriors and hunters get weapon stones and oils; engineers get explosives and utility gadgets; hunters get pet food and lures; anyone with a hearthstone or mount gets those buttons too.
- Quest items that would otherwise sit in a bag appear on the bar while the quest is active, so you are not digging through bags for the clickable object.
Empty categories are hidden, so the bar only shows what you can actually use. Turn “Hide empty categories” off if you want greyed placeholders for categories you are waiting to restock. Check or uncheck categories in the settings window, or use Enable all, Disable all, and Default on/off. “Other Consumable” stays off unless you turn it on.
Layout
Unlock the bar and drag it anywhere on the screen. Lock it so combat clicks do not move it. Scale runs from 0.5 to 3. Position, scale, category toggles, and pinned items are saved between sessions. “Rescan bags” forces a fresh scan. The bar also refreshes when bags change, when you enter the world, and when you leave combat. Item swaps that happen during combat are applied as soon as combat ends, so the buttons stay usable while you are fighting.
Open settings with /finkbar or /fb, or by clicking FinkBar in the addon compartment. Other commands: /finkbar lock, unlock, scale <n>, hideempty, reset, refresh, toggle <category>, and /finkbar macros.
Macro builder
The second tab, opened with /finkbar macros, writes macro text for your current class and only includes spells your character already knows. It does not press buttons for you and it is not an autorotation. You still put the macro on your bar and click it. The panel says so: “Macro text only — you still press it.”
Templates
- Attack sequence. Pick the opener, check the attacks, seals, and short buffs you want, then Build sequence. FinkBar packs them into a
/castsequencethat respects cooldowns, and you reorder the sequence with up and down arrows. Example: a warrior can open with Mortal Strike and follow with Whirlwind and Heroic Strike; a paladin can keep a seal refreshed and weave Judgement into the sequence. - Interrupt. Uses the interrupt your class knows (Pummel or Shield Bash, Kick, Counterspell, Earth Shock, Silence, Bash or Feral Charge). The macro tries mouseover first, then your target.
- Interrupt (focus). The same spells, aimed at your focus first, then your target.
- Defensive. Class cooldowns you know, such as Shield Wall, Evasion, Ice Block, Divine Shield, Barkskin, or Shamanistic Rage. If the class template has nothing, it falls back to a known racial.
- Emergency heal. A self-cast heal for priest, shaman, druid, or paladin (Flash Heal, Healing Wave, Healing Touch, Lay on Hands, and similar), using the rank you know.
- Class utility. Things like Battle Shout, Hunter’s Mark and Aspect of the Hawk, Stealth, Faerie Fire, Polymorph, Fear.
- Hearthstone, healthstone, healing potion, mana potion.
/uselines aimed at the best rank name for that item. - Racial. Stoneform, Will of the Forsaken, Escape Artist, Shadowmeld, War Stomp, Berserking, Blood Fury, Perception, and similar, if you know one.
If a template does not apply (a warrior has no emergency-heal spell, for example), the panel says so instead of inventing a macro.
Using the result
The generated text appears in an edit box you can change before saving. Character length is kept within the 255-character macro limit. Select all copies it. Create/update writes a character-specific macro named FB plus the template name (names are trimmed to 16 characters). Running it again updates that same macro instead of filling another slot. If your character macro slots are full, FinkBar tells you to free one. Creation is blocked in combat, same as the default macro UI.
Why download it
On Forever you outgrow food, bandages, potions, poisons, and weapon enhancements constantly. Without FinkBar, every upgrade means opening bags, finding the new rank, and replacing an action-bar slot. With FinkBar, one button per category follows your bags, you can pin a specific item when Auto’s choice is wrong, and you can generate interrupt, defensive, potion, and attack-sequence macros from spells you already have instead of writing /cast lines by hand.
