DockWatch

Know when the boat leaves.

DockWatch learns boat and zeppelin schedules for WoW Forever and displays live arrival, departure, and journey countdowns on your world map and minimap.

DockWatch is fully standalone and does not require Leatrix Maps, MapUtils or any other addon. When supported map addons are installed, DockWatch can also add live countdowns to their boat and zeppelin tooltips.

DockWatch is currently in beta. Its core features are working, but testing has so far involved only a small number of players. Please report anything unusual in the comments or on the Issues tab. Bug reports, suggestions, and translation corrections are welcome.

How it works

WoW does not provide transport schedules to addons, so DockWatch learns them by observing actual journeys.

  • Ride a route to teach DockWatch its docks, path, departure time, and journey duration.
  • Stay aboard through a stop to help it measure the dock wait and calculate the complete repeating schedule.
  • Share observations automatically with other DockWatch users. Routes you have never ridden can be learned from other players, while new observations help keep schedules accurate.

A ~ before a time means no one has confirmed that schedule in the last 45 minutes, so treat it as an estimate.

Features

  • World-map timer box showing the next arrival and departure for known routes on the map you are viewing. Place it in any corner or drag it anywhere on the map.
  • Estimated moving transport icons showing where each boat or zeppelin should currently be, with its remaining journey time. Appears once you've ridden that route yourself.
  • Map addon integration. Hover a boat or zeppelin icon from Leatrix Maps on the world map, or MapUtils on the minimap, to see DockWatch countdowns in the tooltip. Other map addons that use the game's standard tooltips may work too. Flight-master icons are intentionally left alone.
  • Standalone minimap icon showing the next departure and all known routes at your current dock.
  • Dock countdown window and an arrival countdown while aboard.
  • Departure warnings with a configurable lead time, on-screen alert, and sound.
  • Cross-language sharing. Docks are matched by location rather than name, allowing players using different game languages to contribute to the same schedules.
  • Fully configurable displays under Options → AddOns → DockWatch.

Want DockWatch to integrate with another map addon? Leave a comment with the addon's name, and compatibility can be investigated.

Languages

DockWatch includes draft translations for German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Some wording may still be imperfect. If you are a native speaker, corrections are greatly appreciated. Leave them in the comments or submit the corrected lines from Locales.lua.

Custom alert sound

Place an OGG file named boat.ogg in:

DockWatch will use it for departure warnings instead of the default raid-warning sound.

Troubleshooting

  • Schedules from other players never appear: Run /dw selftest and include all four result lines in your report.
  • A journey was not recorded: Stand still aboard for a few seconds before it departs. Rides that begin while you're moving, or after a UI reload mid-journey, are ignored on purpose so inaccurate times are never recorded or shared.
  • Times are wrong after a server restart: Restarts reset transport schedules. Once a couple of rides confirm the new timing, it's corrected for everyone.
  • Reporting a bug: Enable /dw debug, reproduce the problem, and include the resulting chat messages and any Lua error. BugSack can make Lua errors easier to collect.
