Crimson Coin — DKP Ledger

Crimson Coin is a peer-to-peer DKP and guild-currency tracker for WoW Classic Era, themed as the Scarlet Crusade's own coinage — wallets, member- to-member transfers, officer awards, and full transaction history, with no external service and no single point of failure.

A guild-run currency and DKP tracker for WoW Classic Era (interface 11509 / client 1.15.9) — including World of Warcraft Forever v1.60.1 and other custom clients built on the same Classic Era API — reskinned as Crimson Coin, a currency in the Scarlet Crusade's own name. Every guild member who installs it gets a wallet and can see everyone else's; guild masters and officers can award or deduct coins; members can send coins to each other directly. There is no external server, no website, no account to sign up for — the whole thing runs peer-to-peer over your guild's own chat channel, between copies of the addon your guildmates already have installed.

Why Crimson Coin?

Most DKP addons either require a central "loot council" spreadsheet, a web dashboard, or blind trust in whoever's editing a shared note. Crimson Coin instead treats every balance change as a small, signed transaction that gets replayed into everyone's local ledger — the same design principle behind distributed ledgers in general, scaled down to guild size. That has a few concrete payoffs:

  • No addon author, officer, or "the internet" needs to be reachable for your guild's DKP to work. It's entirely local to your guild's own chat traffic.
  • Every client verifies things independently. When your addon receives "Officer X awarded 50 coins to Y," it checks Officer X's actual guild rank from your own copy of the guild roster before accepting it — a modified client can lie about a lot of things, but it can't change what your own client's roster snapshot says about someone else's rank.
  • Balances are never trusted as raw numbers. They're always the sum of a full transaction history, so two members who've seen different slices of that history just trade the transactions they're missing to converge on the same answer — with no risk of double-counting.

Features

Wallets, for everyone Every member sees their own Crimson Coin balance and can browse the whole guild roster's balances, searchable and sortable by name or coin count.

Officer awards Guild masters and officers (by guild rank — configurable, not hardcoded) can add or remove coins from any member, with a reason attached. Changes broadcast instantly to every other online guild member running the addon.

Member-to-member transfers Any member — not just officers — can send coins they actually hold to another guild member, including their own alts. This is deliberately not the same power officers have: officers can create coins out of nowhere by rank; members can only move coins they already have. The addon won't let you send more than your balance, and — critically — that's enforced independently by every other client from its own ledger, not just trusted from your claim.

A hard wallet cap No wallet can exceed 10,000 Crimson Coin. Enforced the same peer-verified way as everything else, so a modified client can't grant itself an exception.

Full transaction history Click any member to see a scrollable, complete history of every award, deduction, transfer, and note that built up their current balance — date, amount, reason, and who did it. It's the shared ledger, not a local log, so it's the same history for everyone.

Officer notes Officers can attach a note to a member's account without moving any coins — it rides the exact same signed, synced ledger as a coin award, and shows up right in that member's transaction history.

Backups and recovery Officers can snapshot the guild's ledger at any time. Restoring a backup (admin rank only) automatically snapshots the current state first, so even a bad restore is itself undoable, then pushes the restored data to the rest of the guild. Backups can also be individually deleted. A separate "Clear Local Cache" lets an officer wipe just their own character's local copy (balances and history — never other members' data, never backups) if it ever gets into a weird state, with a typed confirmation so it's never one misclick away.

Reviewed syncing Regular members sync automatically and silently — and only ever from a verified officer, never a random guildmate's possibly-stale local copy. Officers get an extra checkpoint: incoming syncs open a review window listing exactly what's new before anything merges, with Accept/Deny.

Rank-based permissions, no hardcoding Officer and admin access is based on your guild's actual rank names ("Officer", "Guild Master" by default), configurable per guild via in-game commands — not a fixed rank index that breaks if you reorder your rank list.

Minimap button + in-game Help Left-click for your wallet, right-click for the officer panel (if you have access). A Help window on both panels lists every /cc command with a description, plus a one-click-to-copy contact field for bug reports.

Commands

/cc — open your wallet
/cc officer — open the officer panel (requires rank)
/cc sync — request a ledger sync from the guild
/cc backup [label] — create a manual backup (officer)
/cc clearcache — wipe your local ledger/balances (officer, confirms first)
/cc officerrank list|add <name>|remove <name> — configure which rank names count as "officer" (admin)
/cc adminrank list|add <name>|remove <name> — configure which rank names count as "admin" (admin)
/cc superadmin list|add <name>|remove <name> — specific characters always treated as admin (admin)
/cc whoami — show your detected rank and officer/admin status

Everything above is also listed in-game via the Help button on the wallet and officer windows.

Installation

  1. Download and extract the CrimsonCoin folder into: World of Warcraft/_classic_era_/Interface/AddOns/
  2. Make sure CrimsonCoin.toc sits directly inside AddOns/CrimsonCoin/ (not a nested subfolder).
  3. Every guild member who wants a wallet — and every officer who wants to manage balances — needs the addon installed. There is no server component to set up.

Compatibility

Built for WoW Classic Era (interface 11509, client 1.15.9). It is not a retail, Wrath Classic, or Cataclysm Classic addon.

Known Limitations

  • New or returning clients currently sync the entire transaction history from an officer rather than just what's changed — fine for a season's worth of a few hundred members, but the first thing worth optimizing for very large, very long-running guilds.
  • Very large payloads (a full backup restore, a big sync response) get split into chunks and trickle out over a couple of seconds rather than arriving instantly — intentional, to avoid tripping the server's addon-message rate limiting.
  • Data is scoped per guild + realm, so an alt in a different guild (or the same guild on a different realm) never shares a ledger with your main.
