BetterXP (Guides)

Level faster in WoW Forever. BetterXP is a leveling guide addon with a smart arrow, a route recorder that writes guides while you play, profession guides from 1 to 300, and a set of time-saving automations such as speed looting and hearthstone batching.

Follow a guide

• Smart arrow that follows the route's actual path around mountains and walls, and tells you what to do next: "Kill Kobold Vermin 3/8", "Talk to Marshal McBride", "Fly to Stormwind".
• Guide window with the upcoming steps. Scroll ahead with the mouse wheel, and tick steps off by hand if you like.
• Steps complete themselves: quests accepted and turned in, objectives done, spells trained, flight paths learned, hearthstone set, levels reached.
• Live objective counters (0/8, 1/8...) and quest XP next to every quest.
• New Forever quests are highlighted in pink with a [NEW] tag and pink map pins.
• Target buttons: one click targets the step's NPC or mob and puts a raid marker on it. You can bind them to a key.
• Quest item bar: clickable buttons for the quest items the route asks you to use.
• Right-click a quest step to see its rewards and a Wowhead link.
• Dungeons: tick the dungeons you want to run, and routes include or skip them.
• Weapon upgrades: the addon suggests weapon upgrades for your class and spec as you level. Quest steps with a weapon upgrade reward are marked, and the addon can pick that reward for you.
• A starter guide for every class (levels 1-5) opens by itself on a new character.

Make your own guides: just play

Click Record a new route and play as normal. BetterXP records your quests, objectives, flights, hearthstones, trainers, vendors, dungeons, grind spots and the path you walked. Afterwards you can polish it in the editor: move steps, add notes, set waypoints by clicking the map, or look up quests and NPCs by ID.

• Pace vs. recording: see live whether you're ahead of or behind the recorded time, like speedrun splits.
• Continue automatically: chain guides together, and the next one starts when you finish.

Share guides

• Export as a BetterXP string, or as plain guide text in the common step / .accept / .goto format.
• Import either format, several guides at once.
• Share with other guide addons: routes you mark as shared are handed to other installed guide addons that read the same format.

Profession guides (1-300)

Guides for Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, Tailoring, Cooking, First Aid, Mining, Herbalism, Skinning and Fishing. Open them with /bxp prof.

• Steps tick off as your skill goes up, and show the materials you still need.
• A shopping list adds up the materials for the rest of the guide, counting your bags and bank.
• A crafting window helper selects the guide's recipe for you and lists the recipes that still give skill-ups.
• Back to leveling takes you back to your leveling guide in one click.

Automation

Every automation has its own switch in the settings, and holding Shift at an NPC or vendor skips it for that visit.

• Quests: auto-accept and turn in the guide's quests (or all quests), pick rewards, accept shared quests.
• NPCs: open the flight map, vendor or trainer the step needs, take the route's flight, confirm your hearthstone.
• Speed looting: everything is looted instantly, and the loot window only appears when something is left.
• Hearthstone batching: set your new home in the last milliseconds of a Hearthstone cast. You teleport to your old home, and your Hearthstone now points to the inn you just left. After each batch you're told whether it was too early or too late, so you can fine-tune it.
• Merchants: sell junk, repair, and restock a list of items such as arrows, water and reagents.
• Group: accept invites from friends and guild members; optionally decline duels and accept summons and resurrections.
• Convenience: stand up or dismount when an action needs it, hide error spam, maximum camera distance, skip cinematics, screenshot on level-up, a warning when your bags are almost full, and an "Open all" mail button.

Motivation

• Personal bests for every route and level, with gold splits.
• Quest streaks and achievements as you level.
• Stats, and an XP-per-hour display with the time left to your next level.

Works with

• Questie / QuestieDB (optional): quest names, quest givers and XP values come from QuestieDB when it's installed.
• Any guide addon that reads the step / .accept / .goto guide format.
