BetterChatTooltips

BetterChatTooltips makes WoW chat links easier to browse with item icons, tooltips that follow your cursor, and a simple click-to-close toggle.

Hover over a supported link to preview its tooltip beside your cursor. Left-click to open a tooltip, then click the same link again to close it. Clicking a different link switches the opened tooltip.

Features

• Item icons in chat: Item links display an icon scaled to your chat font while keeping their item quality colors.
• Cursor-following previews: Hover tooltips follow your mouse and disappear when you leave the link.
• Click-to-toggle tooltips: Open and close a linked tooltip by clicking the same link.
• Support for many link types: Preview items, quests, spells, enchants, recipes, professions, and other tooltip links supported by your client.
• Normal modified clicks: Shift-click and Ctrl-click retain their usual behavior.
• Chat window support: Works with standard chat tabs, loot messages, and temporary whisper windows.

Profession links show a spell preview when hovered and keep their normal click action for opening the profession window.

Setup

Built for WoW Forever (interface 16001). No dependencies or configuration required—install, enable, and reload your UI.

Item icons appear in newly received messages. Custom chat addons that replace the standard chat frames may require additional integration.
