BetterBars
Your actions, arranged your way.
Build an action-bar layout that makes sense to you. BetterBars replaces the standard action bars with named, movable groups, easy keybinding tools, and a choice of visual styles.
Keep your rotation together, give utility spells their own home, and put the controls you use exactly where you want them. From a compact row of abilities to a carefully aligned collection of groups, BetterBars gives you the tools to make the layout yours.
Give every group a purpose
Create groups with names such as Rotation, Defensives, Utility, or Travel, then arrange them around the way you play.
- Use up to eight action groups, with up to 12 buttons per group.
- Arrange buttons in horizontal rows, vertical columns, or compact grids.
- Adjust button size, spacing, columns, and overall group scale.
- Display a heading above each group, or hide it for a cleaner look.
- Drag spells, items, and macros onto your buttons as usual.
Your existing actions and bindings carry over when you install BetterBars. The primary group keeps 12 buttons to support the game's native action-page behavior.
Build tidy layouts with snapping
Getting your bars lined up should be easy.
Unlock your groups and drag them into position with live grid snapping and snapping to nearby bars. Align edges and centers, or place groups beside one another with a consistent gap.
- A visible grid helps you position groups across the screen.
- Alignment guides show when a group lines up with another.
- Adjust grid spacing, snapping distance, and the gap between groups.
- Enable grid snapping and bar snapping independently.
- Hold Alt while dragging whenever you want free placement.
Snapping works with action groups, the experience display, bags, the micro menu, and supported special-bar holders. Groups keep independent positions after you place them, so you can fine-tune your layout later.
Bind buttons where you use them
Right-click an action button → Bind / Rebind Button.
Choose your key directly from the button you want to use. BetterBars supports modifier combinations, mouse-wheel input, and mouse buttons 3–5, with a preview of binding conflicts before you apply a change.
The same menu gives you quick access to group settings and binding removal.
Make it fit your interface
Choose from seven themes: Midnight, Parchment, Arcane, Forest, Frost, Ember, and High contrast.
Then refine the details:
| Customize | Options |
|---|---|
| Fonts | Game default, Friz Quadrata, Arial Narrow, Morpheus, and Skurri |
| Group headings | Ribbon, Underline, or Minimal |
| Button frames | Classic or Square |
| Group textures | Flat, Soft, or Classic stone |
| Group appearance | Independent background and border visibility |
| Labels | Optional headings, keybind labels, and macro labels |
| Layout | Button size, spacing, columns, and group scale |
Prefer a minimal interface? Hide a group's background, borders, and heading to let the buttons stand on their own.
Settings and positions are saved per character.
Give your experience bar its own space
Your experience display has its own movable, resizable group, independent of the micro menu.
Adjust its width, height, scale, texture, theme, and text size. Keep progress text visible, show it on hover, or hide it. Rested-XP prediction can be shown or hidden, and native hover details remain available.
The group can also accommodate watched reputation or other progress selected by the client. Available progress displays follow the game's normal rules, including XP visibility at maximum level.
Keep familiar game behavior
BetterBars uses the game's native action buttons, preserving familiar cooldowns, charges, tooltips, range and usability indicators, macros, and spell flyouts.
The primary group follows supported class forms, stances, bonus pages, and temporary action pages. Bags and the micro menu have separate movable holders, with support for native pet, stance, possession, totem, extra-action, and vehicle controls where the client provides them.
