Having issues?
A player-centered WoW companion for builds, gear, crafting, inventory, maintenance, social tools, and everyday decisions in Azeroth.
Spend less time figuring out what you should do next — and more time playing.
Instead of making you memorize where everything is, juggle half a dozen utilities, or dig through menus every time you need an answer, the Codex brings everyday character, inventory, activity, and social tools together in one place.
It is designed around a simple idea:
The addon should adapt to the player — not make the player adapt to the addon.
What can the Codex help with?
Adventurer’s Codex is built around the small decisions that make up everyday life in Azeroth.
Character & Progression
Get help understanding and improving your character without turning the game into a spreadsheet.
- Review your current talent build
- Generate shareable talent snapshots
- Compare your build against different play goals
- Create and manage talent plans
- Track upcoming character powers and progression
- Surface useful next steps without overwhelming you with information
Different characters have different needs. A leveling character, a solo player, a Delve runner, and a Mythic+ character should not all receive the same advice.
The Codex is designed with that distinction in mind.
Gear & Item Decisions
Sometimes you just want to know:
“Is this actually better?”
The Codex helps organize the information you need to make that decision.
It can assist with:
- Equipment comparisons
- Item value
- Vendor value
- Auction information when available
- Disenchant value
- Crafting relevance
- Character and Warband inventory awareness
The goal is not to turn every item into a wall of numbers.
It is to surface the information that matters when it matters.
Crafting & Activities
The Activities system brings gameplay tools together around what you are actually trying to do.
Use it to help answer questions like:
- What can I craft?
- What materials am I missing?
- Do I already have those materials somewhere?
- Is crafting this worthwhile?
- What should I work toward next?
Crafting, optimization, gathering, inventory, and progression are connected problems. The Codex increasingly treats them that way instead of forcing each one into a separate silo.
Inventory Without the Scavenger Hunt
Your stuff may be scattered across:
- Bags
- Bank
- Reagent storage
- Warband storage
- Other characters
The Codex is built to help answer a much simpler question:
“Do I have this, and where is it?”
Inventory information is used throughout the addon so other tools can make better decisions without forcing you to manually check every storage location first.
Protected Items
Some items should simply be left alone.
Mark an item as Protected and the Codex treats that as a safety rule, not a suggestion.
Protected items are excluded from supported destructive or disposal actions such as:
- Selling
- Disenchanting
- Prospecting
- Milling
- Salvaging
When safety and convenience conflict, safety wins.
Character Maintenance
The Codex can help you prepare for the things you repeatedly need while playing.
Character Maintenance can surface and prepare appropriate actions such as:
- Food
- Drink
- Potions
- Bandages
- Class healing
- Healthstones
- Hearthstones
- Self-resurrection options when available
The system is intended to reduce hunting through bags and action bars while still respecting World of Warcraft's protected-action rules.
You remain the one pressing the button.
Social Tools
Not every challenge in an MMO involves combat.
Adventurer’s Codex includes tools intended to make interacting with other players easier, including:
- Quick social phrases
- Communication assistance
- Emote tools
- A configurable 8-slot Emote Wheel
- Name Safety tools
The goal is not to automate social interaction.
It is to make the little moments where you need to communicate require less effort.
Name Safety
Character names can sometimes contain unintended words, sound-alikes, or combinations that become obvious only after someone else points them out.
Name Safety provides an additional check before that becomes a problem.
It can help identify potentially problematic character names and provide alternative name ideas while using conservative rules intended to reduce unnecessary false positives.
It is a safety net — not a replacement for human judgment.
Designed for Humans, Not Addons
Adventurer’s Codex is intentionally moving away from the traditional addon philosophy of:
“Here is every piece of information we have. Good luck.”
Instead, the design priorities are:
- Show the important thing first
- Reduce unnecessary visual clutter
- Keep related actions together
- Use plain language
- Reveal additional detail when it becomes useful
- Preserve familiar World of Warcraft interactions
- Avoid forcing players to learn the addon before they can use it
- Fail safely when the addon is uncertain
Powerful tools do not have to look complicated.
You Stay in Control
Adventurer’s Codex is a decision-support addon, not a bot.
World of Warcraft intentionally restricts many actions during combat or requires direct player input. The Codex is designed around those restrictions rather than attempting to bypass them.
It can:
- Organize information
- Prepare actions
- Make recommendations
- Find items
- Compare options
- Reduce repetitive searching
- Help you decide what to do
But you make the decision and perform the protected action.
That is intentional.
Built to Work With Your Existing UI
The Codex is not intended to replace World of Warcraft.
It is intended to make the parts between gameplay smoother.
Where useful, Adventurer’s Codex can also work alongside other addons and external tools rather than requiring you to abandon the setup you already like.
Integrations are treated as enhancements, not requirements.
Retail & Forever
Adventurer’s Codex supports:
World of Warcraft Retail
World of Warcraft Forever
Individual features may vary depending on what information or APIs are available in each game version.
Active Development
Adventurer’s Codex is under active development.
Test builds may introduce new systems, redesigned interfaces, or experimental workflows before they reach a stable release.
That means feedback is especially useful.
If something:
- feels confusing,
- takes too many clicks,
- displays information you do not need,
- hides information you do need,
- behaves differently than you expected,
- or simply makes you think “why does this work this way?”
that is useful feedback.
The objective is not merely to add more features.
It is to make the Codex better at helping people play World of Warcraft.
One addon. A lot less remembering.
Spend less time figuring out what you should do next — and more time playing.
