WarlockTicks
See exactly when your channel ticks land — no more guessing from the fill animation.
WarlockTicks draws thin tick marks directly on your default cast bar for channeled spells like Drain Life, Drain Soul, Drain Mana, Wrack, Rain of Fire, and Hellfire, so you know precisely when each pulse of damage or drain actually fires.
Why
The default cast bar just shows a smooth fill draining from start to end — it never tells you when an individual tick actually lands. That matters: knowing exactly when the next tick of Drain Soul fires can be the difference between catching (or missing) a killing blow, and it's genuinely useful for judging exactly how much value you're getting out of a channel before deciding to clip it early.
Features
- Zero configuration. Install it and it just works — no options menu, no setup.
- Doesn't touch your cast bar. WarlockTicks only draws on top of whatever bar is already there — Blizzard default or otherwise. It never resizes, repositions, or reskins anything, so it works alongside any UI setup without conflicts.
- Correct under pushback. Taking damage while channeling cuts the channel short rather than compressing the remaining ticks — WarlockTicks reflects that: tick marks are set once at channel start, so a pushback-shortened channel visibly shows the marks that no longer fit past the truncated fill, instead of falsely implying every tick still happens.
- Correct under haste. Tick count is fixed per spell — haste shortens the channel's total time without changing how many times it ticks, so tick positions scale with the bar's current width rather than being derived from duration (which would drift wrong under any haste).
Supported spells
| Spell | Ticks |
|---|---|
| Drain Life | 5 |
| Drain Soul | 5 |
| Drain Mana | 5 |
| Wrack | 6 |
| Rain of Fire | 4 |
| Hellfire | 15 |
Have a spell you'd like added? The tick-count table is a single, clearly-commented block at the top of the Lua file — trivial to extend.
Compatibility
Works with the default Blizzard cast bar out of the box. Since it only overlays marks and never modifies the bar itself, it's compatible with other cast bar addons too, as long as they keep the frame named PlayerCastingBarFrame or CastingBarFrame (the standard Blizzard bar name).
