PetXPForever
Track your Hunter pet's experience, level, loyalty, and training points at a glance — without ever opening the Pet panel.
PetXPForever adds a small, fully customizable frame that sits right below Blizzard's own Pet portrait, showing your active pet's XP progress in real time. It's built for players who want the extra information without cluttering their UI: everything is compact, movable, and themed to match the game's own interface rather than looking bolted on.
Core features
Mini Pet XP Bar — A slim, movable status bar tracks your pet's current experience toward its next level. It automatically hides when you have no active pet, and hides itself again once both you and your pet have hit the level cap, so it never sits around uselessly.
Loyalty Meter — A second bar beneath the XP bar reads your pet's actual loyalty rank (Rebellious → Unruly → Submissive → Dependable → Faithful → Best Friend), pulled directly from the game's own pet data. The rank name flashes green or red right after it changes, so a loyalty gain or loss doesn't slip by unnoticed. Toggle it on or off independently, with its own color.
Level & Training Points badges — Two small round medallions overlap the bar's corners: one shows your pet's current level, the other shows unspent training points with a "TP" label underneath. Each can be toggled independently, and there's an alternate layout that stacks both badges on the left with a connecting shelf, for a more streamlined look than the default corner-overlap style.
Tinted background — The "empty" portion of the XP and loyalty bars can show a dimmed version of the bar's own color, instead of plain black — the same visual convention Blizzard's own health and mana bars use. Toggle it on or off, and dial the opacity anywhere from fully transparent to fully solid.
Full options panel — Everything above, plus bar width/height, border visibility, current/total XP number display, bar color, and a font cycler (Friz Quadrata, Arial Narrow, Skurri, Morpheus — no external font library required), is configurable from Esc → Options → AddOns → PetXPForever, or with /pxf options. The panel is themed with a dark stone-and-gold look built from Blizzard's own long-standing dialog art, and it scrolls (mouse wheel or scrollbar) since there's more in there than fits on screen at once.
Position & behavior — Move the frame freely, lock it in place once you've got it where you want it, adjust its horizontal/vertical offset from the Pet Frame, and choose whether it disappears automatically once you and your pet are both at the level cap.
WoW: Forever compatibility
Forever runs on the modern "mainline" client API even though its content is vanilla-based, so this addon includes a small compatibility layer: the correct interface version is declared so it loads without extra settings changes, event registration is wrapped defensively so one unexpected event can't disable the whole addon, and the level-cap detection uses UnitXPMax instead of GetMaxPlayerLevel (which reports the wrong cap entirely on a mainline client). It also works normally on Classic Era, Classic (Anniversary/Seasons/Hardcore), and Classic TBC.
Slash commands
/pxf— help menu/pxf lock//pxf unlock— lock or unlock the frame's position/pxf reset— reset the frame to its default position/pxf options— open the options panel/pxf debug— print API/client diagnostics (useful for troubleshooting on WoW: Forever)/pxf scan— search the client for the underlying loyalty API
(/pxp still works too, for anyone used to this addon's previous name.)
