PetScout Forever 🐾 — every companion pet you are missing, zone by zone
For World of Warcraft: Forever (client 1.60.1). Open your map and see where the pets
you do not own come from. No setup, no dependencies.
Forever has a pet collection but no pet battles, so this is not a battle addon and does not pretend to be one. It answers one question: which companion pets am I still missing, and where do I go to get them?
🚀 What you get the moment you install it
- All 112 companion pets of Forever, including the 38 Forever adds that never existed in vanilla — the Furbolg and Ent pets, Pachimari, Galestrider Chick, Minfernal, Minimule, Child of By'zaali, the Ground Squirrels and the rest.
- Owned or missing, at a glance, per zone, with a missing count on every zone in the picker and on the world map itself.
- Where each pet comes from, named: Sold by Donni Anthania, Found in Gaily Wrapped Present, Dropped by …, Rewarded by … — not just "vendor".
- Map pins for every known spot, clustered so a vendor selling six cats is one pin, and projected onto the continent map so you can plan a route.
- Nothing to visit first. The data ships inside the addon.
✨ Everything inside
Pet list — /psf
Every companion pet of a zone with whether you own it. Filter by all / missing / collected,
by source (vendor, quest, drop, crafted, container), and by free text. Pick any zone from a
continent-grouped menu that shows how many you are missing in each. Hover a row for the
source, the item that teaches the pet, and every map it is known on with its spot count.
Left click jumps the world map there, Shift-click drops a waypoint, right click summons it.
World map Clustered pins that re-cluster as you zoom, green when you own the pet and red when you do not. Zone spots are projected onto the continent map, and each zone carries a badge with its missing count — click it to open that zone. A filter bar on the map mirrors the list's mode, source and search, so the pins and the list never disagree.
On-screen tracker A small movable list of what is still missing exactly where you are standing, with a progress count. Collapsible, lockable, hides itself in combat or when nothing is missing.
Model preview The pet's 3D model beside the tooltip, using the same model scene Blizzard's own Forever pet panel uses — so you know what you are hunting for.
It learns as you play
Target a vendor, mob or quest giver the addon knows is a pet's source, and it records where
you are standing. Your own spots get a blue dot to tell them apart from the shipped data, and
/psf export writes them out so they can be folded back in for everyone. This is how the
gaps get filled — see below.
The rest
Minimap button, addon compartment entry, a proper options panel in Esc → Options → AddOns,
and /psf commands.
📊 The data, honestly
The bundled data is generated from Forever's own client database and from the public Forever database on Wowhead. Here is exactly what it covers today:
| Companion pet species | 112 — all of them, for client build 1.60.1.69913 |
| Species with the item that teaches them | 101 |
| Species with a known source | 62, of which 57 name the NPC, container or recipe |
| Species with map positions | 38, across 23 zones — 994 pins, 746 distinct spots |
| Zone tree | 60 maps, 55 playable zones, including Forever's five new ones |
| Languages | English and French |
And what it does not cover yet. Forever is in beta and its pet data is barely documented anywhere: 74 of the 112 species have no map position, and 31 of the 38 Forever-original pets have no published source at all. None of the five new zones — Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle, Darkspear Islands, Riverglades, Shen'dralas — has a single coordinate yet.
Those pets are still listed, still counted, and still show as missing. They simply have no "go here" line yet. Forever also ships its pet source text empty for every species, so there is no in-game text to fall back on — if the addon does not know a source, nothing does.
This fills in two ways, and you can help with both. The addon's data is rebuilt as
Forever patches — its client database is checked daily and Wowhead weekly — and every player
running it with Learn positions on quietly records the sources they walk past, which
/psf export sends back. On brand-new content, players are genuinely faster than any
database.
⚠️ Forever beta: keep the PSFsettings macro
The Forever beta client writes SavedVariables on logout but does not read them back at
login — this affects every addon, not just this one. PetScout Forever works around it by
mirroring your settings into a macro named PSFsettings. Do not delete that macro while
the beta lasts, or your options reset. You can turn the workaround off in the options once
Blizzard fixes the client.
Positions you learn in game are too large for that trick, so they live in SavedVariables only
and do not survive a relog on the beta. /psf export is the way to keep them.

🌐 Languages
English and French. Pet names, zone names and item names always come from your own game client, so they are correct in every locale — only the addon's own labels are limited to these two for now. Other languages fall back to English; translations are welcome.
🙋 A note on what this is
This is a port of PetScout (retail) to Forever. Because Forever has no pet battles, no rarities, no breeds, no pet levels, no tamers and no pet achievements, everything the retail addon built around the battle system is gone here: no capture advisor, no enemy ability bar, no team suggestions, no weather alerts. What remains is the collection half, which is the half that still applies.
It is a first release for a game still in beta. Bugs and missing data are likely — please report them in the comments or on GitHub, with the pet or zone name. Missing sources are the most useful thing you can report.
PetScout Forever follows the Blizzard AddOn policy: it displays information and never automates gameplay. It has no dependencies, sends nothing over the network, and posts nothing in chat on your behalf.
