Oathbound Challenge Runs

Your character. Your promises. Your run through WoW Forever.

Take the long road home. Find a bridge instead of swimming. Leave your pet behind. Oathbound turns a fresh character into a personal challenge run, with a record of the promises you kept — and the ones you broke.

Start at level 1

Enable Oathbound before your new character’s first login. Choose your starting oaths, read their rules, then confirm Start Run while still level 1. They apply immediately. Adding or removing starting oaths is locked afterwards, including after logout.

The free beta.30 preview supports new runs through level 30: 20 general oaths, ten for each of the nine original classes, and four early adventures — 114 challenges in total. No account, payment or unlock code. English is the default; German is fully supported.

Make Azeroth a little more dangerous

• One Life, One Oath: finish without dying.
• No Magical Way Home: no normal Hearthstone casts.
• Sworn to the Shore: no swimming or submersion. Standing in shallow water is allowed.
• Roads Beneath Your Feet: do not open flight maps.
• Every Step Counts: leave your mount behind.
• Class challenges: a Hunter without an active pet, a Warrior without spending class talent points, and more.

The four early adventures keep their own deadlines: Hogger by 9, Hall of Thanes by 13, Ruins of Lordaeron by 15 and Deadmines by 16. Read each rule before accepting it.

Your run at a glance

Use the overview, compact Smart tracker or small unit-frame strips. Hover for rules and status. Adjust scale, transparency and placement. Active, completed, failed and unresolved oaths remain visible in your history.

Difficulty-based points scale toward the run’s goal. Points for an active oath are provisional; a failed oath scores zero. Compare by class with other users of the same rule catalog. Sharing starts on and can be limited to guild, group, or turned off. Peer profiles are self-reports, not a server-certified leaderboard.

Updating safely

Close WoW before updating. Keep the Oathbound folder name and preserve WTF/SavedVariables. Existing level-20 runs retain their original goals, successes and failures; they are not reset or silently extended. New characters use goal 30. The two goal catalogs compare separately.

Changes are mirrored in addon memory automatically; chat notices are off by default. Log out normally so WoW writes the saved data to disk. A crash before that write can lose recent changes.

Beta notes

For WoW Forever 1.60.1 / Interface 16001. Level 30 requires beta.30 or newer. Choose Forever in CurseForge and enable Beta files; use the Files tab to check approved versions.

225 automated checks passed for beta.30, including update preservation with the preceding version’s code and synthetic saves. Native beta.30 acceptance, full 1–30 playthrough, swimming boundaries and consenting two-player exchange remain pending. Please help test and report reproducible issues.
