MisspelledForever is a chat spellchecker built for WoW Forever.
Originally started as a port of Misspelled by nrpieper, version 2.0 is a fresh implementation with its own spelling engine, interface, and settings. Thank you to the original author for the inspiration.
MisspelledForever checks the messages you type and shows unrecognized words in a small panel above the chat box. Click a word to see suggested corrections, or right-click the chat box to check the word nearest your cursor. Your message stays unchanged until you choose a correction.
Features
- English (US) dictionary containing more than 121,000 word forms.
- Suggestions that recognize missing letters, extra letters, substitutions, and swapped letters.
- Common-word and keyboard-neighbor ranking, plus corrections for familiar spelling mistakes.
- Built-in WoW vocabulary, including common locations, spells, classes, and chat shorthand.
- Automatic recognition of your character, party members, raid members, and target names for the current session.
- A personal dictionary for names, guild terms, and your own shorthand.
- Temporary Ignore for session and permanent Learn word actions.
- Channel controls, adjustable panel size, and word-color options.
- A draggable minimap button that you can hide.
Settings and minimap button
Type /mf or /misspelledforever to open the options. You can also find MisspelledForever in the game’s AddOns settings.
Left-click the minimap button to open settings, right-click to enable or pause spelling checks, and drag it to reposition it. If you hide the button, /mf still opens the options.
Usage note
Words are checked after you finish typing them and enter a space or punctuation. Right-clicking the chat box also checks an unfinished word. Click a suggestion to replace that occurrence while preserving its capitalization.
MisspelledForever works entirely offline and does not send messages or automatically correct your text. Item links and chat formatting are preserved.
Current support
This version supports English (US) and standard Blizzard chat boxes. Additional languages and integration with third-party chat addons are not currently included. It checks individual words rather than grammar or sentence meaning.
The bundled dictionary comes from SCOWL through LibreOffice; its attribution and license notices are included with the addon.
