Description

HiFive takes care of the small social stuff so you don't have to. Join a group and it says hi. Invite someone and it greets them as soon as they actually join. When a new player shows up and says hi, HiFive says hi back.

Features

  • Greets when you join a group. As soon as you're in a party with at least one other player, HiFive sends a greeting to party chat.
  • Greets the people you invite. Sending an invite doesn't trigger anything. The greeting goes out when the invite is accepted, so the other player actually sees it.
  • Greets back new party members. If someone joins your existing party and says hi, HiFive replies. Players who were already in the group don't trigger a reply.
  • Greets back guildmates. If a guildmate comes online and says hi in guild chat, HiFive replies there too.
  • Custom greetings. Add as many greetings as you like. Each time, one is picked at random.
  • Custom trigger words. Choose which words count as a greeting (for example hi, hey, hello). Matching ignores upper/lower case and extra spaces.
  • Feels natural. Every message is sent after a random 1–3 second delay rather than instantly.
  • No spam. Replies share a 30 second cooldown across party and guild chat, and each new player gets at most one reply.
  • No loops. HiFive never reacts to your own messages, so two players running HiFive won't greet each other forever.

Settings

Open the settings with /hifive or /hf, or go to Options → AddOns → HiFive.

  • Greetings: one per line. These are the messages HiFive sends.
  • Trigger words: one per line. HiFive only replies when a new player's message matches one of these exactly.

Click Save to apply your changes, or Reset to restore the default (hi).

Good to know

  • HiFive only works in parties and guild chat. Raids are ignored on purpose.
  • Logging in or typing /reload while already in a group does not send a greeting.
  • Guildmates who are already online when you log in are not treated as new.
