Explore the history the game makes publicly available. Grimlight Gold Scanner compares exposed gold-history statistics and keeps a searchable local player catalogue.

What it does

• Adds historical-statistic summaries to nearby player mouseover tooltips. Hold Shift for more detail.
• Compares peak gold with exposed looting, quest, vendor and auction income. Unknown values stay unknown.
• Shows public spending, auction activity, gameplay and other supporting statistics when the client exposes them.
• Opens a continuous, resizable player report with native portraits where available, grouped statistics, averages and up to 20 recent numeric observations. Rescan refreshes the same nearby player.
• Provides separate Players and By level catalogue views, class icons/colors, search and sorting. All-player averages use independent known-value counts and remain independent of search. Click a level to filter players.
• Opens the report from the catalogue, supported player menus, the Gold report shortcut below the bottom-right corner of native Inspect, with a Blizzard gold coin icon, or /ggs player. The Inspect shortcut requires an explicit click and validates the inspected identity.
• Offers Copy report as selectable text for manual copying. Public statistics, capture times and recent history are included. Private invoice totals are excluded. Review player identity before sharing.
• Shows your own report through My report. Optional Grimlight Auctions supplies separate retained successful invoice totals for your current character.
• Explains missing fields with labels such as Not reported, Not on client, Restricted and Unknown format. Hover a field for its reason.

Opening a report hides the catalogue; Back to catalogue restores it. Window geometry, settings and retained observations survive supported upgrades. The catalogue shows its version and scanner status. Native money icons retain gold/silver/copper detail; manual copies use plain text.

Getting started and commands

Install the addon in your Forever client's Interface/AddOns folder and enable it. Hover a nearby player to request available native comparison statistics.

Left-click the minimap button or use /ggs catalog to open the catalogue. Right-click the minimap button to toggle mouseover scanning; drag it to move it.

• /ggs catalog - open or close the catalogue.
• /ggs player - open the target's full report.
• /ggs inspect - open the report for the safely identified inspected player.
• /ggs copy - open selectable public text for the currently open report.
• /ggs self - inspect your own exposed statistics.
• /ggs last - show the last ten cached scans.
• /ggs mouseover on or /ggs mouseover off - control tooltip scanning.
• /ggs minimap on or /ggs minimap off - control minimap visibility.
• /ggs clear - forget cached observations and their histories.
• /ggs status - show identity-free addon/client and API diagnostics.
• /ggs ids and /ggs names [filter] - inspect native statistic discovery.

There is no trade-window integration. Older saved trade settings remain inert.

How to interpret a result

Unexplained is not proof of RMT. The addon does not measure another player's current gold. Historical statistics can omit gifts, mail, transfers and other legitimate income. Standing nearby does not guarantee that every counter is exposed.

Public auction counters are incomplete on this client. A recorded gap can overstate missing income, and readable fields do not prove complete transaction coverage. Missing required gold fields prevent a gap or coverage calculation. Averages describe locally retained observations, not the whole server. Auction postings are not successful sales.

Your optional invoice journal covers retained observations for your current character only. It is never substituted into another player's report or added to overlapping lifetime counters. Older or unseen sales remain unknown. Sale-mail amounts include returned deposits and do not prove collection; proceeds do not establish profit.

Scan changes require compatible client/source provenance, later capture times and readable, nondecreasing counters. Older snapshots remain visible even when they cannot support a reliable delta. The corrected source revision needs two compatible new observations before changes can be calculated.

Comparison requests yield when another addon takes over the shared comparison API, require matching response identity, and stop in combat. A dated cached observation is not a current balance. The addon offers no player-reporting action, denylist or automatic chat message.

Compatibility and privacy

This project targets WoW Forever, interface 16001 / game version 1.60.1. Other WoW editions are not currently supported.

There are no required dependencies. Separately installed EllesmereUI supplies optional styling; Grimlight Auctions optionally supplies your retained current-character invoice totals. Neither is bundled, and missing providers remain supported.

Settings and the player catalogue use local SavedVariables. Fresh downloads contain no cached players or personal settings. The addon has no HTTP requests, network uploader, shared reputation database or automatic report submission. It does not merge other game editions' profiles or market asking prices into player gold.

Support and updates

Use the support link above or this project's CurseForge comments. Include addon/client versions, the affected feature and any Lua error. For missing statistics, include the field's displayed status and exposed statistic name. Remove player names and private details from bug reports.
