Forever Journal keeps a journal of your character's journey, and mostly writes it for you. No rates, no countdowns: where you have been, what happened there, who was with you, and what you want to do next.
Built for the WoW Forever beta client (retail-based).
A journal that looks the part
Styled after Blizzard's newer windows, with its own hand-drawn cards, rings, paper notes, tags and ribbons. Choose Modern dark or Modern parchment; both share the same look. Six tabs along the bottom, search on every page.
Journey
Your story, chapter by chapter. Show it by level, by day or by zone, search it, or filter it to growth, gear, deeds, places or notes. It fills itself in as you play:
- levels, deaths, new places and goals reached
- spells and ranks, recipes, new professions and skill caps
- reputation, mounts, pets and talent re-specs
- your finds, from the quality you choose
The big moments become keepsakes: a ribbon over every boss you beat on a dungeon run, a paper tag for an epic find, a wax seal when a faction counts you as Honored or more. Pin your own notes to the page on a scrap of paper.
Quests
Every quest you hand in, as a ledger, grouped by day, level, zone or type. Click one for its objective, who gave it, who took it back and how long it took; hover it for the game's own tooltip. The In progress view shows your quest log: where and when you picked each one up, how far along you are and how long you have had it.
Places
Every zone you have been to, with how many of its corners you have explored and which are still waiting. Each dungeon has a page of its own: the bosses you beat there, and every run with who came along.
Fellowship
Everyone you group with. When, where and at which levels you met, your time together (split into dungeons, fighting, travelling and time in town), and the quests and dungeon runs you shared. A quest counts as shared when you both make progress on it together, whoever picked it up.
Goals and notes
Goals: collect an item, defeat enemies, gain experience, earn gold, complete quests, run a dungeon, raise a profession, reach a level, visit a place, or a to-do you tick off. Notes: a diary that remembers where and when you wrote each entry. A note can remind you later: "Smelt [Copper Ore] when I get to Undercity" suggests When you enter Undercity. Reminders can fire in a zone, a city, an inn, at a vendor, mailbox, bank, auction house, flight master or trainer, at a level, or at your next login.
Your journal, your detail
Everything is always written down; you choose what the pages show. Essentials keeps only the big moments, Storyteller tells the whole story, Chronicler shows everything. Or make your own mix, down to which item qualities and reputation standings appear. There is room for a whole journey from level 1 and beyond.
Also
- Moments: a short line at the top of the screen for a new zone, a first dungeon, a goal reached, how the last level went, and your reminders, each with a sound of your choice.
- Journal tracker under the objective tracker with your goals and pending reminders. Move it in the settings or in Edit Mode.
- Works with Forever Immersion (choose when the tracker shows) and Forever Data Protect (kept the journal safe while the Forever beta lost addon settings; since 1.60.1 the game seems to load them again, so it should no longer be needed).
Settings and keys
Options > AddOns > ForeverJournal. Bind "Open or close the journal" and "Take a quick note" in Options > Keybindings > AddOns. The minimap button does both (left-click and right-click), and /fj and /note work too.
