DavesBags

I built this because I needed a sophisticated, all-in-one inventory panel with a specific look. The addon was developed in VSCode with AI assistance. The code is clean, and I’ve been using it smoothly since launch.

Install

Copy the DavesBags folder (containing DavesBags.toc and DavesBags.lua) into the client's Interface/AddOns folder, then enable it from the AddOns list.

Use

• Open/Close Panel: Type /daves or /davesbags.
• Toggle Panel: Click any bag button or use your normal bag hotkeys. Native bag windows will close automatically. The panel also opens automatically when interacting with a merchant.
• Movement: Drag the title bar to move the panel. Its position is saved automatically.
• Filtering & Categories:
  • The panel opens to All Bags by default.
  • Use the category dropdown to filter by food/drink, weapons, armor, quest items, consumables, materials, containers, recipes, or other items.
  • Items always remain in their original bag slots.
• Item Interaction:
  • Drag an item from a slot onto an action bar to assign it.
  • Left-click an item to pick it up or place it.
• Right-Click Menu: Opens a context menu to use or equip an item, restore its automatic type, assign a built-in category, or create and assign a saved custom category. At a merchant, this menu offers a sell option instead of a use option.
• Trash & Deletion:
  • Select Trash from the menu to delete an item using the game's standard confirmation dialog.
  • Mark grays: Marks all poor-quality items in your bags.
  • Trash next: Starts the deletion process for one marked item. You must confirm this in Blizzard's deletion dialog; the addon will never delete items without your confirmation.
• DavesNotes Integration: Choose Add item info to DavesNotes from the right-click menu to insert the item link, type, category, quality, level, stack size, and bag slot at your cursor in the active note. If no note is open, it creates a new one (requires the DavesNotes addon to be enabled).
• Shortcuts:
  • Alt + Right-click: Equips equippable items, sells items if a merchant window is open, or opens the menu for other items (use "Use item" in that menu for consumables).
  • Shift + Left-click: Toggles an item as junk, or sells it if a merchant window is open.

Compatibility Note

The manifest targets the legacy Interface: 11200 API used by vanilla-era clients. Because WoW Forever uses a custom build, please confirm that the addon loads correctly in-game. This workspace does not include that client for live runtime testing.
