CursorRange
Know at a glance whether your attack can reach your target.
CursorRange shows right next to your mouse cursor whether your current enemy target is within your attack range - melee, ranged weapon or (optionally) one chosen spell - together with the distance in yards. A coloured range bar above your player frame shows the same thing, so you can see it from the corner of your eye.
Made for World of Warcraft: Forever.
Features
- Range at your cursor - the distance in yards (e.g.
8-10 yd) with MELEE or RANGED underneath, coloured by range state. - Range bar - a coloured bar above your player frame: IN RANGE, MAX RANGE or OUT OF RANGE, with the distance.
- Melee / ranged icon - shows your weapon's icon next to the range bar: your melee weapon up close, your bow / gun / wand at range. Greyed out when nothing can reach.
- Automatic melee / ranged detection - equip a bow, gun, crossbow, thrown weapon or wand and the ranged range is checked automatically. Swap weapons and it follows.
- Exact auto-attack check - asks the game directly whether your Auto Attack / Auto Shot can reach, so big bosses and combat are handled correctly. Falls back to distance checks when the game gives no answer.
- Max range warning - turns orange when you can still shoot but are close to your maximum range.
- Caster mode (optional) - for shamans, mages, priests, warlocks and druids: also shows whether one chosen spell can reach (Lightning Bolt, Fireball, Shadow Bolt, Smite, Wrath... or any spell you pick).
- Alerts - the bar and cursor flash when you move into or out of range. An optional sound can be turned on: choose from five custom sounds (blip, tick, chime, pluck, whoosh) that go up in pitch when you enter range and down when you leave it, or one of WoW's own sounds.
- Stays out of your way - completely click-through, and the cursor elements fade out while your mouse is over your action bars and spell buttons.
- Drag to move - unlock and drag the range bar and icon wherever you like.
- Fully customisable - colours, sizes, positions, text, what to show and when. Every option explains itself when you hover it, and a live preview shows your changes at the cursor while you edit.
- Per-character settings - use one setup for all characters, or a separate one per character.
- Lightweight - only runs while you have an enemy targeted.

All colours can be changed.
How to use
It works right after installing: target an enemy and the range appears next to your cursor and above your player frame. It hides when you have no attackable target.
Settings: Esc > Options > AddOns > CursorRange, or type /cr settings. The settings are split into pages (Cursor, Range Bar, Attack Icon, Alerts, Range Detection, Caster Mode, Colours). Hover any option for an explanation and its default value.
Chat commands
Type /cr in chat for the full list. The most useful ones:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/cr settings | Open the settings |
/cr on / /cr off | Turn the addon on / off |
/cr unlock / /cr lock | Drag the range bar and icon with the mouse |
/cr cursor | Show / hide the coloured circle at the cursor |
/cr caster on | Turn on caster mode |
/cr spell <name> | Choose the caster-mode spell, e.g. /cr spell Earth Shock |
/cr alert sound on | Turn on the alert sound |
/cr profile char | Use separate settings for this character |
/cr reset | Reset all settings |
/cr status | Show what the addon currently sees (useful for bug reports) |
Good to know
- Distance is shown as a range (e.g.
8-10 yd), not one exact number. The game only lets addons measure distance in steps, and CursorRange never shows a made-up exact value. - Only your attacks are checked. The range is based on your auto-attack (Auto Attack / Auto Shot / your ranged weapon). The only exception is caster mode, which checks the one spell you choose - and it is off by default.
- Far away in combat, the game sometimes gives addons no way to tell the distance. By default this is shown as out of range (red); you can choose grey or hidden instead.
