Fishing Fixed
Fishing Fixed makes fishing reliably usable with a controller in WoW Forever.
WoW Forever includes native controller support, but fishing currently has a problem: your fishing bobber can land outside the range where the game's controller interaction system can reach it.
When that happens, the normal Interact button cannot reel in the bobber, leaving controller players stuck unless they use a mouse or recast manually.
Fishing Fixed works around this while keeping the controls as close to WoW Forever's native controller experience as possible.
What It Does
- Uses controller X / PAD3 to cast Fishing when you're ready to fish.
- Detects when your fishing bobber enters WoW Forever's usable interaction range.
- Keeps X as the game's normal native Interact button when the bobber is reachable.
- Detects a bad cast when no usable bobber is acquired.
- Changes X into a one-press recast for bad casts.
- Automatically returns to the normal fishing loop after a catch.
- Provides a RECAST warning when a cast needs to be retried.
- Includes optional feedback for when a bobber is ready to interact with.
- Leaves normal keyboard Interact bindings unchanged.
- Never automatically casts or loots. Every action still requires your input.
Why This Exists
WoW Forever's native controller support can interact with objects throughout the world, but fishing bobbers are limited by the game's soft-interaction range.
If the bobber lands within that usable range, native controller interaction works normally.
If it lands outside that range, the controller cannot interact with it.
Fishing Fixed detects that situation and turns your controller's X button into a recast instead, letting you continue fishing without reaching for a mouse.
The result is a simple controller loop:
X to cast → X to interact with a good cast → X to recast a bad cast.
Current Status
Fishing Fixed was developed specifically for the WoW Forever beta.
WoW Forever is still in active development, so future updates may change the controller or soft-interaction behavior this addon relies on.
