BindPad for WoW Forever
Originally created by Tageshi. Re-released for World of Warcraft: Forever by leehmanQQ.
This is a fork of the original BindPad, updated to run on the WoW Forever client. All credit for the addon goes to Tageshi and the BindPad team. Please report problems with this version on GitHub, not to the original authors.
What is BindPad?
BindPad lets you bind keys to spells, items and macros without placing them on your action bars.
The BindPad window has many icon slots. Drag anything into a slot, click the slot, and press the key you want to bind.
How to use
- Type
/bindpador/bpto open the BindPad window. You can also bind a key toToggle BindPadin Blizzard's key bindings menu. - Open your spellbook (
P), your bags (B) or the macro panel (/macro). The three small buttons on the BindPad window open these too. - Drag a spell, item or macro icon with the left mouse button and drop it onto a BindPad slot. If your action bars are locked, hold
Shiftwhile dragging from them. - Click the icon in the BindPad slot. A window asking you to
Press a key to bindappears. - Press the key you want to use, then click
Exit. - To remove an icon, drag it out of its slot and right-click to clear it from your cursor.
Removing an icon does not remove its key binding. To unbind a key, click the icon and press Unbind in the key binding window. You can also bind the key to something else.
Tabs
Slot tabs
The four tabs at the top of the BindPad window hold different sets of slots:
- General: shared by all your characters and all talent specs.
- Character Specific: only for the current character and talent spec.
- 2 and 3: extra character-specific tabs that work the same way.
To use the character-specific tabs you need Blizzard's Character Specific Key Bindings option turned on. BindPad asks to enable it the first time you open one of those tabs. There is also a checkbox for it on the BindPad window.
Profile tabs
The five tabs on the side of the BindPad window are profiles. Each profile has its own character-specific slots.
Click a profile tab to switch profiles. BindPad remembers which profile you used with each talent spec and switches back automatically when you change specs. If you use the same profile for both specs, nothing changes when you switch.
General slots don't change when you switch profiles, because they are shared by every character and every spec. If you switch profiles while the General tab is open, BindPad jumps to that profile's character-specific tab.
Can I switch profiles in combat, or when I change stance?
No. If you want different abilities on the same key depending on your stance or form, use a macro with stance conditions instead.
Warrior example: /cast [stance:1/2] Berserker Stance; [stance:3] Intercept
Here [stance:1/2] means Battle Stance or Defensive Stance, and [stance:3] means Berserker Stance. This works for every class with stances or forms. For Rogues, [stance:1] is Stealth and [stance:0] is not stealthed.
Druid example: /cast [stance:1] Bash; [nostance] Healing Touch
Druid forms: [nostance] = Caster, [stance:1] = Bear, [stance:2] = Aquatic, [stance:3] = Cat, [stance:4] = Travel, [stance:5] = Moonkin (if talented).
BindPad Macros
BindPad Macros are virtual macros that live inside BindPad. You can make as many as you like, and they don't use any of the limited slots in Blizzard's macro panel.
- Click the small red + in an empty slot to create a new BindPad Macro.
- Right-click a spell, item or macro icon in BindPad to convert it into a BindPad Macro. BindPad asks you to confirm first.
- Right-click a BindPad Macro to edit its text.
- Left-click a BindPad Macro to set its key binding, like any other slot.
BindPad Macros only exist inside the BindPad window. You can move them between BindPad slots, but you can't drop them onto action bars.
Options
- Show Hotkeys: shows BindPad key bindings on your action bar buttons and in tooltips.
- Save All Keys: saves and restores all of Blizzard's key bindings separately for each profile.
- For all characters (in the key binding window, General tab only): carries a key binding over to your other characters.
Slash commands
/bp: open or close BindPad/bp list: list the character profiles BindPad has saved/bp delete Realm_Character: delete another character's profiles/bp copyfrom Realm_Character: copy another character's profiles to the current character
