Beta addon

Disclaimer

I am a career software engineer, but want it to be clear that this addon was 100% vibe coded using Claude Code. That's not to say I didn't spend a ton of time fixing bugs and refining features, but take that as you will.

What it is

BeebMod is the interface I wanted for WoW: Forever, so I built it. It is a mixture of all the stuff I rely on from other addons, without the bloat of the stuff I never used. It is a set of small utilities for WoW: Forever. It redraws the parts of the game you look at most in one flat style. It also keeps a few records the game doesn't: notes on the people you meet, and a journal of the enemies you kill.

It has six features, and each has one switch. On your first login it asks which ones you want. None of them needs another. Type /bt to open the settings, or click the cog at the top of the dock.

Dock

A panel at the side of the screen. It holds:

  • the minimap, with other addons' minimap buttons in one row
  • your experience, and the time to your next level at your current pace
  • your watched reputation, and your PvP rank with this week's honor
  • a grid of readouts: gold and gold per hour, bag space, reagents, durability, item level, movement speed, frame rate and latency
  • your quests, under their zones, lowest level first. A quest item gets a button you can click.
  • the game's menu buttons, and a clock

Unit frames

Frames for you, your party with their pets and targets, your target and focus, your raid, main tanks and bosses, and your cast bar. Your buffs and debuffs sit in a tray beside the dock, with the soonest to run out first. It also shows your own nameplate with combo points, and the game's damage meter with each row's amount per second.

Interface

BeebMod draws the action bars, bags, chat, character sheet, menus and tooltips flat. Every button still does what it did.

  • BeebMod rebuilds unit tooltips into two short lines. Elites and rares get a gold or silver border.
  • The character sheet shows the item level on every slot.
  • The bag window has your bag slots across its foot.
  • In chat, "[1. General - Dun Morogh]" becomes "[1.Gen]". A guild written in a line is green. Click it to put its /who in the chat box. Click a web address to get it in a box you can copy from. The expand mark in a chat window's corner opens its chat in a large window, where you can select lines and copy them.

Census

A record of every player you see in chat, on nameplates, in your guild, and in the /who lists you run. A window of charts shows your realm by class, race, level, guild and zone. The record stays on your computer. BeebMod never shares it.

Ledger

Notes, tags and a rating on the people you meet. Your note shows above their tooltip. Their tags and your rating show inside it. The Ledger also counts the groups you have been in with someone, once you've been together for 5 minutes or in a dungeon: "Grouped 3 times · last in The Deadmines, 2 days ago".

Nesingwary's Expedition

A journal of every enemy you have killed. Each enemy has a card with its model and its lore from the Warcraft Wiki. Its mastery grows with your kills. Its page shows the zone's map with a dot where you killed it. It lists the abilities you have seen that enemy cast. Unique kills, masteries and commendations are worth points, and your points set your rank, from Greenhorn to Expedition Leader.

What it can't do

This client doesn't let addons read the combat log. BeebMod counts a kill when an enemy you were fighting dies, when the experience line names it, or when you loot it. The game doesn't let an addon send a /who, so BeebMod never sends one. A /who you type yourself still fills the Census.

Commands

  • /bt opens the settings
  • /bt <name> finds someone
  • /bt census opens the Census
  • /bt expedition opens the journal
  • /bt help lists every command

Beta

BeebMod is built against the WoW: Forever beta client, and stays a beta until that client is released. Versions read like 0.1.0-beta.16.
