Stop re-dragging spells every time you train a new rank.
In Classic, every spell rank is its own spell, so your action bars stay on the old rank after you visit the trainer. AutoRankUp fixes that: the moment you learn a new rank, any button holding your previous highest rank is swapped to the new one automatically.
Works on WoW Forever, Classic Era, and TBC Anniversary.
Features
- Automatic upgrades when you train. Learn Holy Light Rank 3 and every Holy Light Rank 2 on your bars becomes Rank 3.
- Respects downranking. Only buttons holding your previous highest rank are upgraded. If you deliberately keep a lower rank on your bars for mana efficiency, it's left alone.
- Every bar. Main bar, side bars, stance/form bars, and the extra bars on Forever.
- Combat safe. WoW doesn't allow action bar changes in combat, so anything learned mid-fight is upgraded as soon as combat ends.
- Leaves macros alone. A macro like
/cast Holy Lightwith no rank already casts your highest rank. - Lightweight. No options panel, no libraries. It only does work when your spellbook changes.
Slash Commands
/aru and /autorankup both work.

/aru spell <name> | Lists every rank of a spell in your spellbook, e.g. /aru spell holy light |
The last three are troubleshooting commands. If something isn't upgrading, include their output in your bug report.
First-time setup
- Install and log in.
- Run
/aru previewto see which of your spells are out of date. - Run
/aru allto bring them all up to max rank (skip this if you keep downranked spells on purpose). - From then on, just train. Your bars keep themselves up to date.
